The Touch of the Divine symbol is a universal representation of:

DIVINITY: represented by the gold "Darshan" ("touch of the divine in Sanskrit)

SPIRITUALITY: represented by the silver "Ruallah" ("spirit of
Allah" in Arabic)

RELIGION: represented by the bronze "Ecclesia" ("church" in
Greek).

It has three ripples on a pond and a horizon line to show the
reality (solid above) and mystical (reflection on the water) aspects
of faith.

WORLD COUNCIL OF INTERFAITH CONGREGATIONS

WCIC has shown rapid growth ever since a confederation of similarly directed interfaith networks and umbrellas came into a partnership in late 2009.  The elements of this confederation are also represented at The InterSpiritual Multiplex.

On September 24, 2009, the CIC-USA and the Open International Interfaith Ministries of Canada agreed to a co-creation process which too the name WORLD COUNCIL OF INTERFAITH CONGREGATIONS (see photo at left).   Both organizations committed to including as many interfaith organizations, congregations, and seminaries as possible from around the world in this creation process.

Soon thereafter, Rev. Timothy Miner and Rev. Jean Leone of the Order of Universal Interfaith (OUnI), which had seeded the vision of WCIC, contacted the ISDnA network and its education program at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in New York City because of overall similarity of vision.

Both ISDnA and One Spirit joined the synergy and this led, on January 9, 2010 to the long anticipated founding of Bro. Wayne's envisioned "Universal Order of Sannyasa", an association dedicated to the spiritual practice, sacred activism and advancement of the interspiritual message.   While ISDnA and the Universal Order of Sannyasa remain dedicated to advancement of the interspiritual message, OUnI and WCIC center on the goal of organizing the world interfaith community-- of organizations, seminaries and congregations into a more comprehensive whole.

Order of Universal Interfaith

The Order of Universal Interfaith (OUnI) is an organized religious body providing an
ecclesiastical home for spiritual men and women of all faith paths, cultures and ethnic groups.  Membership includes ordained Interfaith ministers, celebrants, aspirants, 'Wisdom Keepers' from other traditions, and lay members.  There are also several communities within OUnI that honor the teachings of spiritual visionaries who have led the way into new paradigms of building spiritual relationships.

The clergy come from the world's interfaith, multifaith, and interspiritual seminaries who are called to a path of service to all people in activities such as hospital, hospice, education, community and government service and admini- stration based on the principles of
Universal Interfaith (UnI).  These principles are best summarized by the initials which are pronounced "You and I."

Council of Interfaith Congregations of the USA

The Council of Interfaith Congregations of the United States (CIC-USA) is organized as a democratic religious association of independently-organized interfaith, multifaith, and interspiritual congre- gations, communities, and seminaries throughout the United States.  Its invites you to learn about us and our vision to create, nurture and sustain the oppor- tunities for everyone to have a place of worship, community and service that allows them freedom of spiritual expression and the chance to create inclusive places according to our Declaration of Principles.

It is not creating the "religion of interfaith," but honoring "Interfaith as a spiritual expression." It is already a thriving spiritual expression in this country and around the world.  For over two decades, clergy and lay members have come together in regular community interfaith services.  Interfaith Ministers are also serving in hospitals, hospices, law enforcement and in education as chaplains, spiritual counselors, and educators.  CIC-USA provides an ecclesiastical home.

The CIC-USA is one country component of the greater World Council of Interfaith Congregations now represented on two continents. To find an interfaith-multifaith- interspiritual community in your area, please link to our membership page.   If you are interested in starting a community, please contact our staff which can provide guidance and advice.

Beginning 25 November 2009, Interfaith V.O.I.C.E., our online congregation begins its internet presence. Premiering 1 December 2009 will be the first edition of Interfaith Spectrum Magazine for all congregation members around the world.

More Details of the Order of Universal Interfaith and its autonomous partner the Community of The Mystic Heart

The Order of Universal Interfaith is a broadly constituted assembly of persons pursuing active interfaith lives.  A subunit of The Order of Universal Interfaith, in the pedigree envisioned by Brother Wayne Teasdale (pp. 248-250 in The Mystic Heart: Discovering a Universal Spirituality in the World' Religions) is the Universal Order of Sannyasa (now known as the Community of The Mystic Heart).  This latter association is for those who can make a more rigorous commitment to the "24/7" life of daily practice, sacred activism and work advancing the interspiritual message.  The Universal Order of Sannyasa also offers a "sliding scale" with regard to levels of commitment and activity.

Membership:   There are five classes of members to The Order based upon the level of training received towards capable religious service in a professional setting.

The first and highest category of membership based on training is “Interfaith Cleric” given to pledged members with a bachelor’s degree or higher from a US Department of Education approved undergraduate program and graduation from an Interfaith Seminary or school as approved by the Board of Directors of The Order.  Members in this category receive religious ordination into The Order at this level.  All leadership positions of The Order are filled by members with religious ordination as an “Interfaith Cleric.”

The second category of membership is “Interfaith Celebrant.” This ordination is given to pledged members who do not have all the credentials for “Interfaith Cleric,” but who are in training towards that class of membership as long as they have graduated from an approved interfaith seminary.  If in seminary student status or seeking student status, the member is ordained as an "Interfaith Aspirant."

The third category of membership is the lay member who has no religious ordination, and no desire to gain said membership class but who wish to be part of The Order and its work.

The Order also wishes to recognize the "Wisdom Keepers" who are senior and well-respected leaders of specific religions who are considered the guardians of the beliefs and rituals and knowledge that are important to each of the world's religions.

Finally, the Board of Directors of The Order has the right to award an "Honorary Membership" to individuals it deems worthy of recognition for very special contributions to The Order and to the principles of Universal Interfaith.

All memberships are granted by the authority of the Board of Directors and its officers without regard to personal religious beliefs so long as they are not in conflict with the “Statement of Faith” of The Order.  Membership in any class is never denied for race, age, physical limitation, gender, or sexual preferences so long as the pledge to membership is freely given after adulthood (age of 18 years) and all training requirements for membership are fulfilled and there is no conduct within the past five years that would reflect negatively upon The Order and its religious Statement of Faith.

Given the partnership of UOS and ISDnA, there is an entire page dedicated to the Universal Order of Sannyasa at The InterSpiritual Multiplex.   Click on Sannyasa in the Directory on each major page or HERE.

In brief, because the concept of the Sannyasa is so well known from Brother Wayne's work there is an Advisory Council which includes members and non-menbers.  Membership will most likely be structured in levels:  Aspirants, which are persons seeking to join in the developing visions; Intentional Members, persons who support this vision but may not be able to be actively involved; Foundational Members, persons active in the UOS in vision and goals but whose life circumstances do not allow them to make rigorous full time commitment to daily life practice, sacred activism and advancement of the interspirtual message; and Pillar Members, persons who in a western parlance are able to live a more rigorous life of commitment to spiritual practice, sacred activism  and advancement of the interspiritual message.
